About the Walker House
The Walker House Museum is the oldest building in Kincardine and the oldest standing hotel in Bruce and Grey Counties. Operated by the Paddy Walker Heritage Society, the museum offers visitors engaging experiences that highlight local heritage and history.
Position Overview
We are seeking two creative and enthusiastic summer students to work as Museum Tour Guides and Heritage Interpreters. Students will work together to deliver tours, assist with exhibits, support events, and help promote the Walker House throughout the summer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guided tours to visitors of all ages
- Assist with maintaining and developing museum exhibits
- Help catalog artifacts using PastPerfect software
- Support summer events and programming
- Promote the Walker House through social media and the website
- Track visitor numbers and collect feedback
- Assist with retail operations, including the tea room and gift shop
- Support routine maintenance of the historic building

- Hands-on experience in a museum and heritage setting
Candidate Profile
- University or high school students with an interest in history, museums, education, or tourism
- Creative, engaging, and self-motivated
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, email, social media, and basic website tools
Eligibility
Applicants must meet YCWHO eligibility requirements, including being a full-time student returning to studies in the next academic term.
