Art Show Opening & Artist Meet and Greet: June 5th (Free Public Event)

Still becoming- explores aging as a process of growth, creativity, identity and transformation- not a conclusion, but a deepening.

Artists are invited to reflect on the ways in which they are still discovering, learning, evolving and creating meaning in later life.

This exhibit is organized in partnership by Active Living 55+ and the Walker House Museum.

Suggested Artistic Themes & Interpretations

Transformation & Process– Works that show shifting identity, evolving roles or transitions through time (art that embraces process, layering or visible revision-mirroring how life continues to unfold)

Memory & Reflection – Pieces inspired by memory, dreams and revisiting the past, not as nostalgia but as integration (use of personal artifacts, letters, or photo collages to show life’s Journey)

Bodies of Time  – Portraits or paintings reflecting the aging body with honesty, dignity and complexity (use of texture, patina or layered surfaces to show “lived experience”)

Nature & Seasons – Metaphors from nature-growth rings, erosion, flowering, decay, renewal (Botanical or natural imagery to represent the cycles of becoming)

Voice & Legacy – Art that expresses what hasn’t been said until now, or work that reflects on legacy- what we pass on creatively, emotionally, spiritually
