Home: Here, There and Everywhere
● “Home” is universal—everyone has a relationship to the idea of home, whether it is a place, a memory, a culture, a family, or a feeling.
● “Here” acknowledges the community where people live now.
● “There” creates space for places people or their families came from.
● “Everywhere” recognizes multiple identities, journeys, and connections that span cultures and generations.
What does home mean to you?
We invite community members to explore and share their ideas of home through art. Home may be the place where you were born, the community where you live today, the traditions and cultures you carry with you, or the people who make you feel you belong. Through diverse perspectives and experiences, this exhibition celebrates the many ways we create connections
to place, family, culture, and community. Together, these stories reveal that home can be Here There & Everywhere.
Suggested Artistic Themes & Interpretations
Place and Belonging
Exploring what it means to feel at home in a place. This can include neighborhoods, landscapes, communities, and the people or experiences that create a sense of belonging.
Family and Ancestry
Stories of family history, ancestors, and the generations that came before us. This may include heritage, lineage, and the ways family shapes who we are today.
Cultural Traditions
The customs, practices, celebrations, and everyday ways of life that are passed down through families and communities, and how they are kept alive or adapted over time.
Migration and Journeys
Personal or family experiences of moving from one place to another. This can include travel, immigration, displacement, or the journeys—physical and emotional—that shape our lives.
Memories of Home
Reflections on places once called home or moments that feel like home. These may be joyful, bittersweet, or complex memories connected to past places and experiences.
Identity and Self-Discovery
Exploring who we are and how our identities are formed through experience, culture, relationships, and change over time.
Artwork Criteria
All art forms must be able to hang from a wire and installed on a wall. All artworks and materiality will be accepted as long as it is safe to be displayed in a public space and it does not contain harmful or hateful messages or imagery.
To Submit Your Artwork
The submission period is open from June 6th to August 19th.
Please send an image of your artwork along with its materiality, and dimensions (Height X Length X Width), along with a brief description of why your work fits the theme of the show.
Artists are welcome to sell their work during the exhibit, but this is not mandatory. The Walker House will process sales on the artist’s behalf. The Walker House will charge a 10% commission fee for sold work.
Sold work must remain on view until after the exhibition is concluded.
